8 March: a sculpture to underline role of women in peace negotiations

Every woman is a work of art. On the occasion of International Women's Day, the artist Marco Manzo loaned to the Italian Embassy in Kabul the work of art "Evolution of a Tattooed Woman", composed of a ceramic head made with the sculptor Marcello Simonetti and six photos of the artist and of the photographers Artur Czerwinski, Pietro Piacenti and Giorgio Simonetti.

The Italian artist who introduced the tattoo in the art world and who has just closed a personal exhibition at the Vittoriano in Rome, is involved in the preparation of an artistic installation to denounce feminicide and violence against women for the 2019 Venice Biennale of Art - Guatemala Pavilion, curated by Stefania Pieralice, which will open next May.

"In this historic moment for Afghanistan, which presents exceptional opportunities for a peace negotiation, it is particularly important to keep in mind the fundamental role of women as agents of change and indispensable interlocutors for a stable and lasting reconciliation", declared for the occasion Ambassador of Italy, Roberto Cantone.
