Italian Cooperation Supports Families Led by Women in the Fight Against COVID-19

The Italian Cooperation, in partnership with the Italian NGO Nove Onlus, the Ministry of Women's Affairs and the local communities, has completed an intervention aimed at supporting activities to counter COVID-19 by needy families led by women in the city of Kabul.

The project, which reached over 240 families and around 1728 beneficiaries, was carried out by Nove Onlus and allowed the distribution of basic foodstuffs, gloves, masks and sanitation materials.

Women's emancipation is a fundamental cross-cutting theme affecting a substantial part of Italian investment in Afghanistan, also considering the fundamental role of women in society and for the future of the country and the difficult situation in which many of them still find themselves despite the progress made by these past few years.

As part of an intervention to promote female entrepreneurship, a collaboration was started with Nove Onlus focused on helping women heads of families involved in previous gender activities in order to help them overcome this very difficult period and not disperse the commitment of these years or in favor of particularly disadvantaged groups.

Nove Onlus is a voluntary organization that has been collaborating for a long time with the local communities and with the Afghan authorities in particular in the social and professional training sector.
