The meeting addressed several recent emergencies \u2014 the arrival of Afghan returnees from Iran and Pakistan, earthquakes, and drought \u2014 with particular focus on coordinating the response to basic needs.<\/p>\n
Meetings with representatives of major Afghan humanitarian coordination organizations allowed for in-depth discussions on localization and the involvement of national civil society in cooperation efforts. Meanwhile, Uzbek institutional and business community representatives presented opportunities for trade and investment in areas of regional interest.<\/p>\n
All parties reiterated the urgent need to lift restrictions on girls\u2019 education and to promote the inclusion of women in Afghanistan\u2019s social and public life.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, the Italian Government\u2019s support and solidarity with the Afghan population was reaffirmed.
