Upon invitation of the organization NOVE Caring Humans, Ambassador Sabrina Ugolini delivered a video message at the press conference dedicated to the presentation of the book “Donne. Resistenza. Libertà. Storie di ventuno afghane in lotta per la vita” by Angela Iantosca (Paoline Editions), held on February 12, 2026, at the Senate of the Republic. A story of civic engagement which draws parallels between the world of the Constituent Women and Afghan refugees, focusing on the role of women in society.

The event, promoted by Senator Alessandra Maiorino, offered an opportunity to explore the book’s original narrative and listen to the dramatic and moving testimonies of several young Afghan women currently in Italy, supported by NOVE in their quest for social reintegration in our country. In her contribution, Ambassador Ugolini highlighted Italy’s role in the complex multilateral dialogue underway with the de facto Taliban authorities, underscoring the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Agency for International Cooperation (AICS) to providing coherent humanitarian support to the Afghan population and its most vulnerable members.
